Follow the black rabbit
Wonderful fired clay sculpture from Beth Cavener Stichter:
I Am No One
~ Beth Cavener Stitchter ~
From the artist’s statement: “There are primitive animal instincts lurking in our own depths, waiting for the chance to slide past a conscious moment. The sculptures I create focus on human psychology, stripped of context and rationalization, and articulated through animal and human forms. On the surface, these figures are simply feral and domestic individuals suspended in a moment of tension. Beneath the surface they embody the impacts of aggression, territorial desires, isolation, and pack mentality…”
Via Pixelsurgeon.

Fascinating sculpture - the artist’s statement bring to mind Karl Jung. Jung referred to our “psychic inheritance”, the reservoir of our experiences as a species, a kind of knowledge we are all born with. Animal archetypes play a significant role in our “psychic inheritance.”

I don’t like this sculpture and the artist’s statement.
Why don’t leave poor rabbit be?
Beth Cavener Stitchter sure is no vegetarian …
Sincerely,

Why Giambattista? Her sculptures are technically amazing and provocative. It is in the best of taste to like her work.

Giambasattista, What is your general dysfunction? How can you not see the numerous complexities expressed by the work? Not everything can be taken at face-value, one must look deeper to really understand such things. Vegetarianism may be your choice, but don’t force your opinion on others.
Be a little more humble in future, or you may miss out on something important.
Beth, I found your works to be very moving and rather inspirational, as I’ve just begun moving away from painting, toward metaphorical sculpture. I’d like to explore organic form in future.

RUN RABBIT RUN

i think that instead of insulting someone maybe you should look at what giam was saying, dan. the reason that someone could find something like this disturbing is symply that rabbits don’t represent what the artist is trying to convey. rabbits are a symbol of innocence and spring time, showing a hairless deformed rabbit maybe is speaking of societal ills but mostly, as anyone could interpret it, seems like this person is trying to convey a deformed child. rabbits are a symbol of new beginnings like children and i think if someone was trying to convey the ugliness of society they should have thought of a better animal.

Great sculptor!!
Simplicity of lines yet sophisticated outcome.
The artist’s comments remind me of a book called “The lonely ones” by William Steig.

Now I see why giambattista marcucci was so negative about the sculpture. Look at his work. He’s jealous!!

There is beautiful modeling on display here. The aesthetic is a wondrous balance of rendered, anatomically correct form and subjective, exaggerated shape.
Now this is my idea of an Easter bunny.
To the people who don’t get it, get out.

Giambattista is probably just made uncomfortable by the sculpture, “a rush of blood to the head” on the artist’s website.
The artist is not trying to portray animals in pain, fear, and lust. She is showing us humans in pain, fear, lust, and completely vunerable in animal form.
Great work on this sculpture, I love the expression in the hare’s toes.

My hares are similar in style, and they have also been compared to donnie darko, people view my work and experience either a deeply possitive connection to it or a deeply negative one, this is what happens when you create work that goes down deep into our souls inner workings and brings our whole life experience to the surface.

Do not a lot of cash to buy a car? You should not worry, because this is achievable to receive the credit loans to work out such problems. Thence get a college loan to buy everything you want.
