Truthfully, I'm way less optimistic about Obama winning, at least handily. The Palin pick made this race a real race. Obama's poll numbers have slipped significantly across the board in swing and must-have states. We're back to a neck-and-neck race. (Also remember that Bill Clinton isn't a good analogy - he would have lost without Perot being in the race.)

That said, there's some good fundamentals. He's got a great get out the vote operation - better than any recent Dem candidate. He's campaigned with a good mix of political judo techniques. He's solid on funding - this looks to be another record month. His base is more motivated than ever after Palin - it's motivating to be the underdog. He's going to have both Clintons, Biden and a whole host of other surrogates out there working the swing states while McCain and Palin have to hand-hold each other by appearing together. There's still a very strong chance in my mind that Palin will get dug into a deeper and deeper "unfavorable" hole (she's already more unfavorable than Biden in polls with independants). There's three debates and a VP debate.

You CAN reach out the Obama folks - and let them know that you want to register voters! Face time with undecideds is gonna be key this time around.

I needed to read this. I have been in a funk all week. I cannot believe that "style" seems to be winning over "substance". Boy, I hope your instincts are finely honed.

I want to reach out to the Obama folks and say KISS! This is where Bill Clinton was so good - he could sharpen the issues, pull out the facts, and bam, bam, no one could argue with him.

At the end of the day, it is about saying over and over how poorly we have done the past eight years. By every measure, the country has slipped nationally and globally.

Repeat the question: who has been in charge the last eight years? John McCain, last I looked, is one of them. For me, stop talking about Bush, talk about the REPUBLICAN PARTY! the dirty dastards!
